Departmental role

The Department exists to enable, encourage and support the churches and Christian communities of the Diocese in their response to “Our Calling Under God”. It works with individuals and communities to discern and develop their appropriate response to Christ’s call to follow him as faithful disciples.

We engage with individuals to discern a particular calling to licensed ministry, ordained and lay and ensure appropriate training for them. We work to equip and resource ministers in each context to take up their role and responsibilities with respect to their vocation and the leadership they give others.

The summary areas of responsibility set out below are divided into two parts, Discipleship and Ministry. However, this does not indicate two separate parts of the Department but rather two key focal areas that are inter-related.
