Children and Youth Ministry Leader – St John’s Hartley Wintney

St John’s Hartley Wintney, a growing New Wine church in North East Hampshire is seeking to appoint a full time enthusiastic Children’s and Youth Ministry Leader to join our team and lead and grow their ministry to young people.

St John’s have approximately twenty teenagers and ten children who attend regularly, some from church families and some with no previous connection. For pre-schoolers, they run a thriving ‘Bumps and Babes’ group, where they are starting to see some transition to faith and would love to encourage and strengthen this ministry. St John’s have been running a Youth Club which has attracted up to 50 local young people in the past and this work will need rejuvenating.

St John’s see a tremendous opportunity in the local community and have a heart for expanding their ministry in local schools to create a strong sense of the relevance of Christianity to the lives of young people, so that the church can draw them into a place where they can experience the love of God and see his transforming power in their lives.

The purpose of the role is:

  • To lead St John’s well-established Youth and Children’s ministry, establishing vision and bringing coherence and energy to build on the current foundations.
  • To disciple young people so that they are able to become lifelong followers of Jesus, equipped to live for him, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
  • To build a programme of outreach within the local area, engaging with local schools and community groups.
  • To collaborate with and manage the Children’s & Families Pastor
  • To envision, build and nurture a team from within the church to lead and support Children and Youth activities.
  • To act as a mentor to the young people and live as a positive Christian role model.

St John’s are looking for someone who:

  • Is captivated by the love of God shown supremely in the person of Jesus and pursues holiness in their own lives.
  • Is rooted in scripture, committed to prayer and welcomes the work of the Holy Spirit
  • Has a heart to see young people come to know the love of Jesus and grow as disciples.
  • Is generous, humble and non-judgemental, a listener and encourager with a servant heart and able to relate to all ages.
  • Has the confidence and sensitivity to reach out with the gospel beyond the church.

This role will report to the Vicar, work alongside and manage the Children & Families Pastor, and be part of the ministry, leadership and staff team.

Salary in the range £27k depending on experience.
