Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is a form of ministry that goes beyond the life of a local church. It’s ministry that is authorised by the Church and recognised by a host organisation. Across our diocese, we have chaplains working in schools, universities, hospitals and other healthcare institutions, prisons, the police force, and working as Anna Chaplains with the elderly.
Chaplaincy is usually a long-term ministry of presence, engagement and prayer. It’s typically a voluntary ministry, though expenses will often be paid by the host organisation.
Chaplains are there for people of any faith or no faith – many operate in multi-faith environments and build understanding and trust with colleagues from other faiths.
