Face to Face Training

Face to Face Training

The National Church encourages everyone to complete the Safeguarding e-learning online wherever possible as this helps ensure consistency and quality assurance. These modules can be found by clicking here.

While many people will be able to access online training via the Safeguarding training Portal or similar, some will not. Due to very limited resources for face-to-face training, we will always ask Parishes to look first at supporting individuals who struggle to access online training, through for example arranging someone to sit with them to help them navigate the online platforms either one to one, or in small groups.  We are not currently able to offer face to face where it is a preference, rather than a need.

In exceptional circumstances, we can offer however face to face training from our trainer in order to ensure the online format is not excluding some individuals from accessing training.

There are three modules which can be delivered locally:

  • Safeguarding Basic Awareness – 1.5 hours
  • Safeguarding Foundations – 1.5 hours
  • Safeguarding Domestic Abuse – 2 hours

These modules can be delivered individually or in combination in your chosen locality.

The host parish should ensure that there are adequate numbers attending a course. Minimum session attendees are 12. It may therefore be worth considering whether there are other churches that you could link with for training.

Once the parish has indicated the numbers of participants who will attend, the training event may be opened up to other parishes and publicised via the Diocesan Safeguarding Training website. The maximum number of attendees for any session is 30

In Churches/ contexts who believe they have a need for face to face training, they can express an interest in hosting training by completing the expressions of interest form which can be found here

Please complete the form in as much detail as possible to help us to understand your context training needs and return it to safeguardingtraining@winchester.anglican.org

It may take time to finalise any training, and it may not be possible to grant all requests. This is a new system and will involve learning what will work best and still ensure that we meet the Safeguarding Learning and Development Framework requirements.

For any training that is arranged, each individual course attendee will be required to complete a dedicated booking form to ensure that there are accurate records and to allow for certificates to be issued after the course. Where possible the certificates will be issued electronically, as experience has shown that they are easier to keep track of.

If you have any concerns about safeguarding training, then please direct these to our trainer, Emma Duncan, at  safeguardingtraining@winchester.anglican.org.

We are exploring the possibility of a number of prescheduled face-to-face options to be run out of Old Alresford Place and once we have finalised this, dates can be found here.
