Safeguarding Sunday

Thirtyone:eight, the UK’s leading independent Christian safeguarding charity, created an annual safeguarding awareness campaign for churches – Safeguarding Sunday, which takes place in November each year.

Churches are encouraged to not just reflect but also act on improving safeguarding practices, learning from where they may have got things wrong. To build on the ways they are supporting those who have been hurt, and highlight all the good work being done behind the scenes to protect vulnerable people.

Safeguarding Officers Share Experiences of Safeguarding Sunday

We spoke to two Safeguarding Officers in our diocese, John Kidney from All Saints Southbourne, and Carol Kidd from St James West End, about their experiences taking part in Safeguarding Sunday and why they think it’s essential for churches to get involved. Read more here >>>

If you have safeguarding concerns about the welfare of a child, young person or an adult, please email the Diocesan Safeguarding Team for advice and support.

If you need to raise a concern, please complete this referral form and send it to the above email.

We are committed to ensuring that all church officers are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities and have the core skills and knowledge to protect children and/or adults from harm. Find out more about training here, and contact our Safeguarding Training Team here.
