Basingstoke Deanery

Basingstoke Deanery

Amazing-stoke is ranked amongst the best places to live in the country. The major town of Basingstoke has a population of 117k and around it lies some of the most beautiful villages and countryside in Hampshire. As town planning continues to increase the resident population in the next 15 years, new housing developments are emerging all across the Deanery. Employment is amongst the highest in the country. Different communities get on well together. Despite the relentless advocacy of +David, Basingstoke sadly remains Hampshire’s largest settlement without city status. However, this unrealised hope notwithstanding, Basingstoke is a fantastic place to live and serve.

Basingstoke Deanery is located in the Northern Archdeaconry. Our chapter is amongst the largest in the Diocese with 17 parishes and chaplains from the hospital and hospice. These parishes represent a breadth of tradition, theology, and styles of worship. Together we are committed to supporting our clergy, equipping the whole people of God, and building cooperation between our diverse parishes for the sake of mission. We enjoy great ecumenical networks, and are strengthening local partnerships with other churches for the sake of the flourishing of our town.
