Resource Churches
Our Resource Churches
As part of a mixed ecology of churches in our diocese, there are several Resource Churches which have a unique role to play in our diocesan life. Resource Churches have been created – or are existing congregations that have been revitalized – using national church funding, to reimagine church and explore new, diverse models that respond to our rapidly changing society.
Resource Churches are specifically tasked with being highly missional – growing attendance, particularly in urban areas and places of lower socio-economic status, and reaching out to younger people which are under-represented in the Church of England. Their size and investment mean that they are equipped to impact their local communities through social transformation programmes, such as debt counselling, youthwork and social prescribing with healthcare providers, as well as equipping and sharing resources with other local churches in their area.
