Basic Awareness (Formerly C0)

Basic Awareness (Formerly C0)

This pathway gives an overview of what safeguarding is, and why it is important in the church and in our communities. It is a requirement for all church officers and anyone going on to complete any other Church of England safeguarding course, and is recommended for anyone within church communities who needs and would like a basic awareness of safeguarding, and those who work with children and adults who are vulnerable or at risk. It is mandatory that the basic pathway is completed prior to the foundation and leadership pathways. It is open for anyone to complete, regardless of their role, including members of congregations. This course is completed online via the Church Of England Training Portal. Here are some instructions to help you sign up.

Approximate completion time is 1hr 15 minutes. Questions to complete throughout the pathway, 75% pass mark required. The advantage of this pathway is that it is now CPD accredited and can be used as evidence of having completed a safeguarding awareness course, for many other settings.
