Are you passionate about the spiritual well-being of older people?
St. Thomas Lymington is the parish church for the town of Lymington on the Hampshire coast. They are committed to developing their support and ministry for older members of their parish, particularly those living and working in the care homes in and around the town and parish.
St. Thomas are now seeking a lay or ordained person who is passionate about the spiritual well-being of older people who will help them develop an Anna Chaplaincy to enrich the lives of older people across the community; across all church traditions, and people of all faiths and none.
Responsibilities include:
- To support older people on their spiritual journey by developing opportunities to meet their social needs through the riches of the Christian faith.
- Develop a visible presence across the care homes, sheltered housing and independent living accommodation across the town of Lymington & Pennington.
- Create appropriate opportunities for acts of worship adapted to meet the needs of those who consider themselves members of the Christian faith.
- To encourage and facilitate inter-generational and seasonal activities to enfold our older people into the life of the parish.
- To provide support for relatives as well as staff and carers of older people.
- Advocate for the needs of older people across our churches and the wider community.
- Celebrate the contribution older people make to our society.
- Occasional Sunday ministry through your role as Anna Chaplain.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Vicar and Pastoral Team for St. Thomas Lymington. They will also be part of the growing Anna Chaplaincy network which is part of BRF Ministries.
It is an occupational requirement for the person appointed to be a professing and practising Christian, lay or ordained. (Equality Act 2010).
The appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
