Pioneer Evangelist – Church Army, Southampton

Overview of Role: Southampton Centre of Mission will focus around the Church of the Ascension, Bitterne Park, seeking to develop further the work of EDGE and EDGE+ and the new worshipping community that is established there. The Pioneer Evangelist supports the Lead Evangelist in this work, whilst developing new and pioneering work in a similar area of deprivation.

This role will involve playing a central role in developing worshipping communities in Southampton, using the model of EDGE and EDGE+ established in Bitterne Park, to explore how this can be replicated in areas of similar deprivation and encourage pioneering evangelism across the Diocese. This role will need someone who is experienced in creating new worshipping communities that are appropriate for new disciples and working in team ministry. Church Amy are looking for someone who loves people, is creative and fun-loving, is energised by working with people and communities and is an initiator and pioneering in spirit.

You will help spread and grow a culture of evangelism, creating a community in which doing, advocating, resourcing and enabling evangelism is a shared way of life. You will have a passion for Jesus and for reaching those on the edge of society.

Salary: £12,154.85 per annum (£24,309.70 per annum FTE)

Hours: 18.75 hours per week

Pension: If a Church Army Commissioned evangelist or ordained, noncontributory, operated by the Church of England Pensions Board. If not Church Army Commissioned then the employee will be assessed under auto enrolment pension legislation and if eligible, minimum contributions will be made.

Annual Leave: 123.75 hours paid leave per year, inclusive of bank holidays (247.5 hours per annum FTE)

Contract:  Part-time, Open Ended
