Winchester and Portsmouth Dioceses: Strategic Programmes Finance Officer

This multi-faceted role covers financial modelling and budget preparation to support funding bids, as well as financial monitoring and reconciliation for projects in progress. Reporting to the Strategic Programme Managers for Winchester and Portsmouth Dioceses, we are seeking an experienced and articulate individual to become an integral part of our teams as we deliver strategic change programmes currently totaling approximately £22m, and set to grow significantly across the two Dioceses. 

The successful individual will need to demonstrate financial literacy and analytical skills, evidenced by qualification or experience, along with the following:

• Competency and confidence in the creation of complex worksheets and financial modelling using Microsoft Excel
• Experience in the preparation and presentation of financial management reports and fund analysis
• Experience of working with Microsoft Suite applications and financial accounting systems; ideally with experience of Xledger accounting systems

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to think strategically, whilst also having a strong attention to detail, ideally with a charity accounting background. You will have a proven ability to relate well with others at all levels and be an excellent communicator of financial information in a form that is accessible to all. You will have a collaborative style, acting with initiative and able to see tasks through to completion within an environment that involves tight deadlines.

We are offering 28 hours per week (equivalent of 4 days per week, 0.8 FTE) to be split 2.5 / 1.5 between Winchester and Portsmouth respectively.

Salary £32,802 per annum for 28 hours per week (FTE £41,003). Additional benefit of Employer contribution of 10% of basic annual salary into our pension scheme.
