The Bishop of Winchester has accepted the resignation of the Venerable Dr Peter Rouch, Archdeacon of Bournemouth. Peter moved to the Diocese of Winchester in 2011, and has worked with vision and energy for nearly a decade, earning the respect and appreciation of the deaneries and parishes he supported so faithfully. Peter will leave his role this week to begin the next chapter of his ministry in a role with the National Church Institutions of the Church of England, which will be announced shortly.
The Bishop of Winchester, the Rt Rev Dr Tim Dakin, said:
“Peter will be sorely missed, and he goes to a new ministry with the support of all our prayers.”
Archdeacon Peter said:
“St Paul wrote to the Philippians, ‘…you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown….’ Serving God with you in this diocese and especially amongst the people, clergy and churches of the Bournemouth archdeaconry has made those words resound in my heart. I am deeply grateful for the joys and the challenges we have shared together, and the friendships that will continue through this new step in my ministry. With love and longing for you, I leave to follow where God calls me. God be with you all.”
