Alan Lovell Appointed the New SNEM to Winchester Cathedral Chapter

The Bishop of Winchester, Rt Revd Philip Mounstephen, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Lovell as the new SNEM (Senior Non Executive Member) to Winchester Cathedral Chapter.

Alan’s extensive governance experience includes being CEO of Costain and Chair of Interserve. He is currently the Chair of the Environment Agency, and locally he is Chair of the Hampshire Cultural Trust. He has previously been Chair of Mary Rose Trust and University of Winchester, as well as High Sheriff of Hampshire 2010-11. He has been a Lay Canon of Winchester Cathedral since July 2022 and is a regular worshipper at St Lawrence Church in Winchester.

Bishop Philip said: “I’m delighted that Alan Lovell has accepted my invitation to be the next Senior Non-Executive Member of Winchester Cathedral Chapter, in succession to Mark Byford. Alan brings very significant and wide-ranging leadership experience that I’m sure will be of great benefit to our Cathedral and I’m very grateful to him for taking this role on.”
