Event Description

This course will be delivered by Bishop David and the Deliverance Ministry Team of the Winchester Diocese. It is open to all licensed clergy and is a part of the IME programme for curates.

Deliverance Ministry in its broadest sense is part of pastoral care and is a ministry of liberating, freeing or delivering a person from a burden they carry. This can involve using prayer to deliver someone from the influence of an event or sin, within the context of faith. In the Church of England, this ministry needs to be exercised within the guidelines set by the House of Bishops and also the good practice guidelines within safeguarding. In its broadest sense, deliverance ministry is normative and arises out of the baptismal rite and the Lord’s Prayer. However, it is important that all clergy know when to ask for support in this ministry.
