Thy Kingdom Come is taking place this year between 29 May and 8 June 2025. It’s a global ecumenical prayer movement, and our bishops and members of our senior team are taking part by sharing reflections on prayer. Find today’s reflection from Bishop Rhiannon below.
Martin Luther apparently once said that to be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.
I’d like to add that to be a Christian without praying for others is no more possible than to be a musician who never touches their instrument.
Between Ascension and Pentecost we are encouraged to pray for five people we know.
I’m using prayerminder.com to help me remember. Others tie a knot in a hankie or add a post it note to their bathroom mirror. It doesn’t really matter how we go about it but what a gift to those people that they are being prayed for every day and what a gift it would be if they caught even a glimpse of God’s amazing grace. Whether we ever tell them that we’re praying or not (and why not give it a try!) God loves to answer our prayers so let’s give thanks today for the five we’re praying for and ask God that they may start to believe in the God who believes in them.
