Communications Policy
As a church community, it’s important to establish guidelines for all communications created within and for this community. It can therefore be a good idea to create a Communications Policy to encourage communications that reflect your values, as well as the digital communications values shared by the Church of England.
Your Communications Policy should also ensure effective systems that can:
- Provide timely information about our activities, events and programs, both within the church and in the larger community
- Welcome members, friends, visitors and the public to participate in your activities
- Allow coordination of activities and external publicity
- Encourage open, respectful communication among individuals in the church
- Provide information about events and activities that fit with your values
- Bear in mind that safeguarding is the church’s highest priority, therefore it’s essential to ensure all comms activities, particularly online content and anything related to crisis communications are referred immediately to Safeguarding

Privacy Policy
Data protection is an important part of parish life. Parishes handle personal information about the congregation, volunteers, employees and others, and must do so responsibly and with care. Part of this responsibility includes creating a Privacy Policy, which outlines how your parish collects, uses, shares, and manages personal data. A Privacy Policy is required by GDPR laws for any organisation handling personal information.
Find a Privacy Policy template, created by Parish Resources, below. Please keep in mind that the information included in the template may not be applicable for every parish, and the document will need to be tailored to suit your parish.
