What Are Parochial Fees?
Parochial fees are statutory charges for services that an incumbent (associate, curate etc) is under a legal obligation to provide or conduct (eg weddings and funerals). Fees are set by the Church of England’s governing body, the General Synod, and Parliament. The total statutory fee consists of two elements, one due to the PCC and one due to the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF).
The incumbent and PCC are responsible for keeping a record of the services taken and the fees collected. The PCC holds the DBF proportion as agent for the diocese and should not include such fees in its own income.
Either monthly or quarterly, the PCC should remit the DBF portion of the fee to the Winchester Diocesan Board of Finance (WDBF) by online transfer to 55-81-26 / 00342564 or by cheque to the WDBF at Old Alresford Place, Alresford SO24 9DH (marked FAO Finance) with a copy of the fees return form uploaded to the Winchester Parish Portal.
