Welcoming the New Chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester

Welcoming the New Chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester

We are thrilled to announce that the Revd Theresa Ricketts will be the new Chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester.

Theresa has been Vicar of St. Mary the Virgin, Cuddington in the Diocese of Guildford for the last six years. She served her curacy in Weybridge and trained for ordination at Westcott House. She is passionate about parish ministry, and has also enjoyed serving in a range of diocesan roles, including leading an Occasional Preachers course, leading workshops for parishes in vacancy, and coordinating the team of Vocations Advisors. Before she was ordained in 2014, Theresa had careers in both the Civil Service and as a History teacher. Outside church life, she enjoys running, novels and catching up with friends over coffee and cake.

Theresa is delighted to be joining the Diocese of Winchester as Bishop’s Chaplain, bringing her skills and experience to this vital role. She is particularly keen to put her passion for parish ministry into practice within the diocese.

I am excited to be able to serve both Bishop Philip and the Diocese of Winchester in this role, and am looking forward to meeting and working with new people, both in the central team and the parishes across the diocese.

Theresa Ricketts

I’m delighted that Theresa has accepted my invitation to be my chaplain. She brings a wealth of valuable experience, including leading a growing parish church, alongside skills which will be of real help to me in my work in the diocese, and more broadly too, such as in the House of Lords. I think she’s a real answer to prayer!
